The horns and the hood turn a piece of draped fabric into a recognisable character. If the plain cape felt too understated, this is the same easy shape with the silhouette doing considerably more work.
Fourteen to eighteen grams. It is one of the lightest garments here, which is why animals that shrug off heavier costumes will often leave this one alone.
Black with red binding is the most gothic, red with black binding the most visible, and orange the one that reads as Halloween from furthest away.

The horns are sewn into the hood, so the instinct is to put the hood up. Try it the other way round. Pushed back onto the shoulders the hood still stands, the horns still show, and the animal has nothing over its ears at all.
In photographs the difference is smaller than you would expect, because the horns read from the profile either way. In the animal's experience the difference is the whole thing: one version is a cape, the other is headwear, and headwear is what gets shaken off.
The small weighs fourteen grams and the large eighteen. That is lighter than a slice of bread, and lighter than every other garment on this site. For a kitten or a toy breed it is close to the practical minimum for something that still looks like a costume.
Light also means it moves. A cape this weight lifts when the animal runs and settles again when it stops, which photographs well and means nothing is pinned against the body long enough to become warm or itchy.
It ties at the throat with a ribbon bow rather than fastening with a clip. A bow releases instantly, which is the reason to like it, and tightens when the cape is pulled, which is the reason to check it twice.
Set it with two fingers lying flat under the ribbon, then look again after the animal has crossed the room. A cape that has caught briefly on a chair leg will have drawn the bow smaller without anybody noticing, and the second check is what catches that.
Black with red binding is the moodiest and disappears on a black animal. Red with black binding carries furthest in a dim room. Orange is the one that reads as Halloween rather than as generic gothic, and it is the only one of the three that a stranger would identify as seasonal without being told.
All three are lined and bound around the full edge, so the reverse looks finished if the cape flips in a photograph, which on something this light it regularly does.

Length here is the cape from collar to hem, not the animal's back, so it tells you coverage rather than fit. The neck figure is what to size on. All three are short capes by design: even the large stops around the shoulder blades on a spaniel, which is the point rather than a shortcoming.
Loved by real pet parents
Bought the black cape with the red binding for our whippet and the two sewn horns have not flopped over once, even after an evening of him pushing his head under the sofa. The ribbon at the throat ties loose enough that I can get two fingers underneath. He forgets he has it on, which is high praise from him.
The cape itself is lovely and the contrast binding round the whole edge looks far better made than I expected for something this light. My only niggle is the hood. When our beagle puts her nose to the floor it slips off the back of her head and the horns end up sitting on her shoulders. A stitch or two at the crown would fix it and I may do that myself.
I measured before ordering rather than guessing and went for the large at 35cm on the neck and 22cm long, which sits just past his shoulders. It covers enough to read as a costume without trailing on wet grass. Two autumn walks in and the binding has not pulled anywhere.
Our tortie will not wear anything with a leg hole so a cape was the only thing worth trying. At fourteen grams she genuinely does not seem to register it and she sat through about six photographs before wandering off. The ribbon unties with one pull if she decides she has had enough.
It is well enough made and the horns do hold their shape. The small at 16.5cm long only reaches the middle of our lurcher's back though, so from the side it reads more like a collar with a hood than a cape. If I ordered again I would go up a size and accept a looser neck.
Went for orange because we do the village trail every year and the black one would have vanished after sunset. Under the street lights it reads as Halloween from the other end of the road, which is exactly what I wanted for the photographs. Hand washed it cool afterwards and it dried overnight on the airer.
The cape hangs well and the binding is neat all the way round. The cut ends of the throat ribbon started to fray after a few rounds of tying and untying, so I have singed them carefully and that has held. Everything else about it is better than I expected from something that weighs eighteen grams.
We tried the black one first on a black dog and you could barely see it, so we swapped to the red with the black binding and the difference in photographs is enormous. The horns catch the light and give him an actual silhouette. He wore it for a whole evening with visitors coming to the door.
After two years of wrestling our terrier into things with sleeves, a cape that ties at the throat with a bow is a relief. It goes on in about five seconds and the horned hood does all the work the sleeves used to do. The polyester has not caught on his claws either.

No, and often it should not. It sits perfectly well pushed back on the shoulders, which gives you the horns in the photograph without anything over the ears. Try it that way first.
Two fingers flat under the ribbon. A bow tightens if the cape is tugged, so check it again once the animal has moved rather than only when you tie it.
At 22cm long and a 35cm neck it will fit across the shoulders but reads as a short cape rather than a full one. Above that size there is nothing in this design.
They are stuffed fabric rather than moulded plastic, so they hold an upright shape but squash flat under a hand and spring back. There is nothing hard in them.
Hand wash cool and hang it up. The binding is stitched on rather than bonded, so it survives water, but a machine cycle will twist the horns out of shape.
