This one pops upright after every swipe and the younger one has spent whole evenings on it. The feather on the wire is the bit she goes for, the track balls in the base keep the older one busy underneath.
Does the job well and the weighted base is genuinely clever, it never once stayed down. My only niggle is that the feather detaches for cleaning, which also means a determined cat can pull it off the sprung wire. Easy enough to push back on, but I check it now before I leave them with it.
I bought this mostly for the refillable catnip well and it turned out to be the right call. I topped it up after about a fortnight, popped the dust cap back on and the interest went straight back up. At 12cm across it sits neatly in the corner of the hall without being in the way.
We have gone through three battery toys that died inside a month. This one has no motor at all, just the weight in the base, so there is nothing to run flat. Six months on and it works exactly as it did on the first afternoon.
Perfectly well made, and the 128g base really does right itself every time. My cat seems to find the righting motion a bit much though and backs off after a swipe. She will bat the track balls in the base if I hold the top steady, so it may simply suit a bolder cat than mine.
I assumed the feather would be the draw, but it is the small bell on the sprung wire that brings him running from the other room. He knocks it, it wobbles upright, the bell goes again and he is off. The whole teaser detaches for cleaning, which I have needed twice already.
I went for the fluorescent yellow and it is a lot louder in a beige living room than I expected, which is on me rather than the shop. The toy itself is good and 25cm to the tip of the feather puts it at exactly the right height for a standing swipe. I would pick the indigo next time.
Bought one and immediately wished I had bought two, because one of ours sits at the track balls in the base while the other goes for the feather. They have worked out a sort of shift system between them. It has taken a lot of punishment and the plastic body has not marked at all.
