Each pod is self contained on a cell, so there is no run of wire to hide and nothing extra plugged in behind the tank. Move them whenever you rescape.
One accent light is a gimmick. Ten lets you light the back wall evenly, or pick out a single ornament, and change your mind without buying more.

It is worth being clear about what these are. They are small battery LED pods intended to add colour, which is a different job from lighting a tank. They do not deliver the intensity plants need, and they are not a substitute for a proper bar or hood light over the water.
Where they work is around the outside. A pod behind the tank washes the background and gives depth, one under a shelf edge lights the surface obliquely, and a couple alongside pick out hardscape. The effect is on the display rather than on the biology, which is exactly what they are for.
Fish need a clear day and night. Coloured light left on through the evening extends the perceived day, and a tank that never goes properly dark is one where fish do not rest properly. Blue night lighting is for your benefit rather than theirs.
Use them for the hours you are in the room and turn them off when you go to bed, which the remotes make easy. If you want the tank lit late, keep it dim and accept that the fish would be better off without it, rather than assuming coloured light is somehow neutral.
At thirty eight millimetres they are small enough to hide behind a cabinet upstand, under a rim or tucked at the back of a stand. Hooks and screws are included, and it is worth planning the positions before fixing anything, since a pod pointing at the front glass produces glare rather than an effect.
Each runs on a coin cell, and ten pods means ten cells. That is the practical cost of having no adapter to match and no cables to route, and it is a genuine advantage around water. Buy a strip of cells at the same time rather than discovering the pods are flat some months later.

Three behind the tank give exactly the depth I was after and the plants stand out from the background properly. The CR2450 cells do not last forever if you leave them on all evening, so I keep a packet in the drawer now. Setting a colour from the remote is instant.
The tank sits in an alcove and one handset lives at either side, which sounds silly until you have crawled behind a cabinet. Ten pods was more than I needed for one tank so a few went under the shelf instead. Warm white on low in the evening looks great.
They do what they say and the colour range is good, the warm white especially. They are only splash resistant at IP65 though, so one that got properly wet during a water change stopped working. My own fault, but worth saying out loud.
What put me off accent lighting before was the thought of another cable to hide behind the cabinet. Every pod runs on its own cell, so there is nothing plugged in and nothing to route. I move them around whenever I rescape.

You get hooks and screws in the box, which is fine if you are mounting to wood. My cabinet has a glass top so I had nothing to screw into and ended up improvising. The lights themselves are bright and the remotes pair without any setting up.
Ten pods is genuinely enough to experiment with. Four went behind the tank, the rest are lighting the shelf below it in the same colour, and it ties the corner together. Changing them all at once from one handset is the nice part.
Static colours are lovely and the cool white is useful for a quick look in the tank at night. The automatic cycling mode runs quicker than I would like and there is no way to slow it, so I leave it on a fixed colour. Everything else has been good since February.
I leave two pods on a dim blue for an hour after the main light goes off, so it is not a sudden blackout for them. The pods are small enough to sit at either end without being seen. The cells have lasted since spring at that sort of use.

No. They carry an IP65 rating, which covers splashes and spray but not immersion. Some sellers show these submerged. We would rather you kept them outside the glass and kept the warranty.
No, and they are not sold for it. This is accent and mood lighting; plants need the daylight spectrum LED bar.
Each pod takes a CR2450 coin cell. They are supplied fitted, and replacements are widely available in any supermarket.

Fish barely need light at all. Plants do, algae wants it more, and the balance between those three is set by a timer.
