A fixed width lamp is scrap the moment you upgrade the tank. Legs that slide mean the same bar carries over, which is why this outlives two or three tanks in practice.

Eight and a half thousand kelvin is a cool daylight tone. It renders greens and blues cleanly, which makes a planted tank look natural rather than yellow, and it sits in the range most freshwater keepers settle on. Warmer light makes a tank look muddy; much cooler starts looking clinical.
For plants, colour temperature matters less than people assume. Plants use light across the spectrum and respond mainly to intensity and duration. Colour temperature is largely about how the tank looks to you, which is a legitimate reason to care about it but a different question from growth.
The single most useful thing you can add to any aquarium light is a plug in timer. Six to eight hours a day suits most freshwater tanks, and consistency matters more than the exact figure. Leaving a light on all evening because the tank looks good is the most reliable way to grow a green film on the glass within a fortnight.
If plants are struggling, the answer is usually more intensity rather than more hours. Algae outcompetes plants when light is plentiful and something else is limiting, so a long weak photoperiod feeds algae and starves the plants. Shorter and brighter is the direction to move.
Light falls off quickly with depth, so a deep tank needs a stronger unit than a shallow one of the same footprint. Measure the outside width across the rim, since the legs rest on the frame rather than inside it, and check the extended span covers that before ordering.
Position it centrally along the length so the front glass and the back corners get roughly even coverage. Sitting it on a glass cover rather than over an open tank extends its life considerably, because the constant evaporation off an open surface is what eventually gets into the housing.
Keep the tank out of direct sunlight regardless of what light you fit. Sun through a window adds hours you have not accounted for and varies through the year, which is why a tank on a sunny sill grows algae that no amount of adjusting the lamp will fix.

The last aquarium light I bought came with a two pin head and a travel adapter dangling behind the cabinet. This one has the correct three pin head fitted from the start. Small thing, but it is the reason I chose it.
2300 lumens over a shallow tank is a lot, and I have ended up running it on a timer for shorter spells rather than turning it down. The rocker switch on the housing is handy, no scrabbling about at the socket. The colour is lovely, it just has one setting.
It extends to about 95 cm as described, which covers my tank with a bit to spare. The feet themselves are slim, so on a rimless tank you want to seat them carefully. Been up since January without moving.
The 8500 K tone reads as proper daylight instead of the yellow cast the old lamp gave everything. Greens look green and the reds on my fish are far stronger. Growth in the planted corner has picked up noticeably since spring.
The tank is on the long side and I did not want dim patches at the ends, so I took the larger model. Coverage is even from one end to the other. The 12 V supply runs cool and the housing barely warms up after a full day on.
No issue with brightness or colour, it does exactly what it says at 8500 K. My tank has a plastic rim with a ridge and the extended legs never quite sit flat, so the bar rocks if you knock the lid. It works, it just does not feel as solid as I had hoped.
Bought it for a small marine setup, which a lot of lighting at this sort of level is not rated for. It has been over salt water since October with no corrosion on the housing or the legs. The tone suits what is in there well enough for my purposes.
Good light, and being able to flick it on at the housing rather than reaching under the cabinet is genuinely useful. The rocker took a firm press for the first fortnight before it loosened up. It has been fine ever since.

The 36 LED suits smaller tanks and the 72 LED wider ones. Both share the same telescopic legs, so measure the outside width of the rim rather than the water line.
The supplier rates it for fresh and salt water. As with any aquarium lighting, keep the adapter above the tank and run a drip loop in the cable so condensation runs off before it reaches the plug.
There is a rocker switch on the housing but no dimmer or built in timer. If you want a photoperiod, put a plug timer on the adapter, which is cheaper than buying a controllable fixture.
